Long time no scares

Ok, so it's been ages since I posted anything. And I wanted to
make this one special! An Exorsist - special.. yeeaah!

The idea is to just give you 3 of the many exorsist movies I watched.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose. 2005
I saw this movie on avant-premiere when it came out in 2005 (wow 
damn such a long time ago already). The things I rememberd from 
that day was mostly dissapointment. Not that I didn't like this movie 
exactly, but mostly because I expected more. 
I haven't watched it since, and maybe I should.. to get a better eye 
on things. But I must say that the fact that I haven't forgotten about it, 
is probably a very good sign. Just short fragments of the movie are 
still in my brain, like the representation of demons and stuff, I really 
do remember Lucifer being awesome :D. 
Anyways, I do reccomend this movie.

The Rite. 2011
Last year I was in Rome, while we were there this movie came out. 
The poster was the thing that spoke to me most, and probably the title 
too. But just Anthony Hopkins in combination with exorcism theme is 
a thing in my zone of interest.  
And I was right ! This movie is pretty awesome, just the general story 
being quite -the cliché- but the total package is in a way still different. 
This is a movie absolutely worth wacthing,  in an exorsist-movie-night 
this should probably be one of the last movies of the night.

The devil Inside. 2012 
I think this must be one of the latest horrormovies I wacthed, one of the 
best lately too. I like this one, just a slightly diffrent approach in this story. 
The two student-priests, a baptation gone wrong. There's just so much 
interresting new stuff in here. I absolutely love the way they used the
'handycam' style of the exorsism images, it reminds me of 'the fourth kind' 
an absolute part of my top 20. These days you see a ton of movies made 
with a handycam, and I'm not a big fan of copying the blockbuster cliché. 
But anyways, I'm liking this one, watch it !

ôdishon

This movie came out in '99 but still.
ôdishon must be one of my favourite Japanese movies so far,
... damn this one was good.
Ok so for a start, I found this movie loads of times on movielists.
And now I see why it always has a high rating score.

Everything about this movie screams 'TENSION' from beginning
'till end. It's just amazing how well it all goes without getting
boring or to complicated. It's just bloody and gore all at the right
time. Plus Japanese horror movies are always the best on the
psychological part. Emphasis on -psycho-
There is indeed again some warning attached to this movie,
as to any other horror movie that is.

Needles
Vomit-eating
Flesh and bone cutting wire
... and more of that.

Need I say more?
Go watch this masterpiece!

The Poughkeepsie Tapes

A few weeks ago my best friend told me about this movie on youtube.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes. Now, I do like to watch horrormovies,
and do so most of the time. But there are some where I have my doubts.
Like to gore or based on a true story wich I rather not hear about.
(If you know what I'm saying)
So this was perhaps a bit of both. But I got my shit togheter and watch
it anyways.

I must say, it's not for most people. Although I thought it had a kind
of 'lightness' to it. It's still pretty scary.
With lightness I mean, switching between footage of interviews and
actual murders. Most of the time when there's police involved in a
horrormovie it kind of breaks the tension in it. So that's what it does.
What it also adds to making it realistic (as if it isn't allready).

I would only recommend this to people who are certain to be up for it.
Just don't eat while watching.
(like on a rollercoaster, ...only less happy)

Justified / The covenant

Okaay I know what you're thinking, Justified? Wtf, That isn't a horror
movie! Well guesse what.. it's my blog. ^^
So anyways I decided to throw in some comments about tv shows once
in a while. And since I'm a sucker for a texas accent, well .. Justified is
perfect start. I highly recommend these series to anyone who likes a
little western in there CSI. A nice add to it is the main character played
by Timothy Olyphant.

 

That reminds me of a movie -not really- worth mentioning apart from
these few seconds:

 

'The covenant' is the movie I'm talking about. Pretty dissapointing on
acting, story and actually most of what's left. And that's about everything
I have to say on this one. I don't even know why they happend to call this
a horror in any way. Enjoy these gifs, there the best you'll get ;)

Deadgirl

Okaay, so today I finally got to watch the ending of the movie 'Deadgirl'.
I got interested about it when I noticed the awesome movie-poster! :

I just want to say, .. this is a type of horrormovies you don't often come by.
Well at least I think so. The story is quite original and also disturbing.
It has a more of a gore and unsettling thing to it.
To be short: It's about two guys finding a girl that can't die,
one get's obsessed and uses her as a 'seksslave'.
The other guy -who is fucking hot btw- does not think it's such a good
idea to just fuck around with this (un)dead girl.

So just a random tip; please go to the bathroom when you're about
halfway through the movie,... cause afterwards you might not want
to go as badly.

Just sayin'..

If you like a little gore in your movies, this one is definatly a good start.
Also a nice adding to it are the soundtracks, not the usual horrorsounds,
and they did an awesome job on choosing the music on the right timing. 

I can't really think of anything negative about it, might not be for
everyone though. Just watch it yourself and share you opinion!

Funny Games

Okay next up is both the Funny Games (Germany) 1997 and U.S. 2007:

- First thought -
 (U.S.) "Right, ... I don't know what to expect"
 (Ger.) "Again ... brilliant movie, can't wait to feel the tension"

 - Actual movie(s) -
Two psychopathic young men take a family hostage in their cabin. (imdb)

So I watched them in the wrong order, first the American version
then the German one. It's not really a big problem, but I just didn't
know there was an earlier version untill recently. Today was a good
day to watch the 1997 version, and my god... it's exactly the same.
 I fell in love with the power of this movie while watching the
American version, and I just think it does the same as the other one.

I can understand why people dislike the remake of a movie that
isn't even that old. But I think the director just wanted to get
a bigger audience for this brilliant story. In any way.. I was sold while
watching the American, so nothing could spoil that.

This isn't actually a horror movie but more drama, crime or thriller.
I just wanted to share this as the brilliant movie it is. So watch
the original or the American, ... I really don't care... just watch it!

Although I feel the pressure to add that a foreign language allmost
never fails to add extras to a movie.

(This movie is not what I call 'Scary' or 'Bloody' it's more emotionally
thrilling. Can't really explain. So I will only give overall scores.)

The Uninvited

Okay so yesterday I didn't only watch 'The Strangers' but also
two other movies. Both starring Emily Browning.
She is a super pretty girl, and I love to see her act.
Only one of them was a horror the other was a drama
(Sleeping Beauty). So here goes:

About  'The Uninvited' :

- First thought -
"Yay! Emily Browning!"

- Actual Movie -
A girl loses her mother in an 'accidental' fire and gets sent to a
mental institution. When she returns she starts to suspect
her stepmom actually being responsible for it. So she and her sister
will try and find proof of this matter while receiving clues through
ghosts and visions.

I wont spoil anything of the good parts cause the movie
is really worth watching on a spooky girls night. It might be a
little over the top on the original horror scares but it doesn't
harm the tense atmosphere. I love how the story changes your
opinion while watching it. These kind of mystery stories are
most of the time not part of my favourites. But this one is an
exeption.

Definatly a movie worth watching as said before on a girlsnight.
Not really a tough guy thing. Anyways, enjoy!
